Any recommendations for an exteneded stay hotel in the Birmingham area? Priority is convenience to UAB. Thanks.

Not really one near UAB. Best bet is probably Value Place in Pelham. There are a couple near Irondale east of town, but they are a little seedy. There is also a Value Place in Bessemer that is not in a bad area, but it is a little far and not near a whole lot of action.

Check the Homewood area. I seem to recall a few being located on/near Lakeshore Pkwy.

as someone stated value place. i stayed (pelham location) there when i visited birmingham and it wasnt bad at all. price was pretty decent. there also is inn town suites and they have a few location throughout the area but i dont think there around uab. and another is homestead studios they have one on statefarm parkway in the homewood area i have stayed at the 280 location and it was fine. good luck

Priceline /Hotwire can be your friend. Chains like Extended Stay America and Homestead Suites are always dumping rooms on these services at a fraction of their normal rack rates.

I'd probably stick with the ones around Lakeshore and 65. There's one that's newly built just off of John Carroll (Rd? Dr?) and Lakeshore.
