Does anyone know why all the construction barriers are being put up from just south of Galleria all the way to 261?

Thanks! I should have known. I guess they will start next week.

Quiet frankly I barely see the need. I'm on it everyday and I don't think I've ever hit a rough spot?

God forbid they do something like 6 lane it and widen 261 in the process.

I honestly didn't know there was a Shelby County Reporter website. So double thanks.

Well, that's what I thought it might be. It definitely needs another lane. I'm guessing that is what is going on with 150 right between the G and Patton Creek. But alas. Widening 261 would solve a bunch of issues too, but I know you already know about that.

Agree. I travel 31 a good bit through from 150 to 119 and don't really see the need for it to be resurfaced.

Notice how they started this and there seems to be little activity? I'm just a casual observer but what this says to me is this is barely needed, as we said. It's like they are just killing time going from here to there.

I know I'm being critical, but I just don't see some of the projects they start. Such as resurfacing perfectly fine roads.

It's as if they say let's halfway start 20 projects to avoid doing this other "more difficult" project. I do realize the more difficult project might be more expensive, but why not cut out some of the minor stuff and save up some money?

They are definitely going to widen 150 after SSC when it drops down to 2 lanes all the way to LC. Maybe they are prioritizing a bit.

ALDOT plans to widen Alabama 150 between Shades Crest Road and Lake Cyrus entrance - HooverSun.com

OR maybe they just to have to fill their orange barrel purchase order quota before year's end.

Yes. Orange barrels. Let's put out as many orange barrels as possible so that it looks like we are doing something.

Wish they would just widen 150 all the way to Parkwood Rd. and put a light at 150/Parkwood Road. Lots of new homes being built in the back of Lake Cyrus and traffic can already get held up there with cars turning left from 150 onto Parkwood Road, not to mention trying to turn left on 150 from Parkwood Rd.

Probably not really feasible because there is a bridge between the Lake Cyrus entrance and Parkwood Road so that would be a much more expensive widening project.
