We wound up buying at a highrise condo not too far away. But had this been completed in time for our move, we would have done this for a year or two. The only minus is that Hot and Hot is moving to Pepper Place.

Wow. I've been gone from Birmingham for five years. So much has changed. In the halcyon days of the early '90s, I rented a 2/1 apartment just down the block for $335.

Glad to see this wrapping up. It looks good and is going to add a lot of density. Once the 17 story tower on the site of The Break opens and Daniel moves forward with the condo project where the Western strip center is now, there will be a nice cluster of high rise residential buildings in that area:

-Vesta
-The Break apartments
-Condo building where the Western is now
-The two historic apartment buildings near Bottega.

Not to mention there are rumblings that the Trade Towers are gaining momentum for a redevelopment to happen there. Gonna be a lot of residents in that are in the next few years. Restaurants rejoice. Now is the perfect time to get CAP in the area and to get people feeling comfortable and confident in 5 Points.

That would be huge. Trade Towers is in too good a spot to sit empty. 5 Points will get another boost when Southtown gets redeveloped.

crazy that the Five Points South neighborhood technically includes the Parkside area. i've said this before, but with the amount of growth happening in BOTH areas, i wonder if Parkside will eventually break off and become the 100th neighborhood? it doesn't feel at all like part of Five Points to me.

agree. the fact that UAB lies between them makes them completely distinct imo.
