I've driven through it, but it's just a wide spot in the road. It's near the JeffMet industrial park. What exactly do you need to know?

Oh, cool. Now I got it. You know, also along the way is Woodstock, the town depicted in the podcast S-Town. If you haven't heard it, it's indispensable roadtrip listening.

It is nothing more than a small community between Woodstock and McCalla. Probably has a handful of businesses and a couple thousand residents. Pretty much just a slice of rural Alabama between Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. I imagine at least half of Jefferson county has never even heard of it.

Couple thousand residents? It's an unincorporated community, but the number living in the Green Pond zip code is more like 100.

Forty-odd years ago I had a lovely drive from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham along US 11 because I wanted to avoid the interstate. 11 doesn't go through Green Pond but all those years ago it was a good road -- and it goes on to Knoxville, and probably beyond.

A lot farther than that! I can remember being in Burlington, Vermont, and seeing signs for US Highway 11 which i thought was kinda cool. And sure enough looking now, it does go all the way to the Canadian border.

The K3 lumber yard mentioned in the S-Town podcast is located in Green Pond, but it's not really anything to see. It's a very rural and poor-ish looking area.
