You're right, my math was bad. Per usual, the message that Bham media outlets and homers try to portray is that Bham is on par with these other cities.

Now to be fair, its good to be mentioned because when John Doe (Business owner) is looking at cheaper places to land his start up, he might Google the best places to look.. Birmingham might show up on his radar. Many of these businesses don't need big metros. They need office space to call Headquarters and cheap labor. That's not a bad thing but it's also not the same as major corporation moving in providing lots of mid/high paying jobs.

But I'm still convinced some people are paid to booster on platforms like this and reddit.

I am a native San Franciscan. I lived in Auburn AL in the late 1990s for a few years on a job assignment. I really enjoyed living in the "heart of Dixie" (as the license plates used to say) and exploring not only Alabama but the neighboring states as well. Most people in the coastal major metro areas have such a warped stereotype view of Alabama and many other deep south states that they can't wrap their arms around all the good things that can be found there. I call it the "My Cousin Vinny" syndrome from watching too many fiction movies or TV shows.
