"FAKE Grace?"
Sounds like you are determined to be miserable.
Bless your heart.

Responding to the person who moved to VT for a short time and got tickled to meet people where you are from.......You've got it!!! It is nothing more than a support group.....thank you for being so honest with your own experience.

Btw, why are you specifically looking for transplants? I think I'm offended...
"I think I'm offended"......you silly thing. We limited members roots for support, and the only other reason is I am tired of hearing the "Damn Yankee" joke. LOL.

My wife was born and raised in NJ, and even though she loves it here there are still things she misses about home. We southerners tend to be a bit defensive at times, and it is usually nothing that is ever a big deal. When I lived up north, I missed certain things about home. That's just natural. I didn't complain about it, but the feeling was still there.

Janet I totally agree with you in your hunt to find someone in the area that shares at least some common ground. No disrespect intended, but A lot of people in AL are very closed minded and don't even want to hear someone elses opinion if it doesn't fit into their grand scheme.(I know I'll probably get blasted for this but who cares.) one thing about being from someplace other than the south is that you are exposed to a lot more in regards to culture. When we get here and see some of the things that go on it puzzles us, but if you say something about it to anyone from here they take it offensive. That Bama pride is something else, and if I got to hear about my Yankee self then I am going to express my opinion no matter how unpopular it may be. Ohh yeah Joe that is a very toxic mindstate that you have for you to say just go to Chicago if you like Chicago people so much! I think that smog must be clouding your thoughts. Sharing of common interest is human nature, I have assimilated a good bit of the local culture, but I still know that I have been raised in a fundamentally different culture in NY than I would have been exposed to here and you should know that much from moving to Cali. Janet I would love to join you guys sometime I think it would be fun.
