Just wondering what you guys are thinking about the coming government shutdown, and what it means for certain regions of our state. I'm so glad that Birmingham's economy is more diversified, and able to not be crippled by this posturing!

I think nothing of it. This is the first I've heard of it.

I wish they'd just save us the trouble and shut down for good.

Six year old kids would do a better job because they aren't yet corrupted by greed for power, money, and sex.

It's kabuki.

If there is a government shutdown, the place I'd be worried about more is Huntsville. 55% of their economy is based on federal spending.

Well, there are a handful of US House members that are definitely about to sink the ship! Gonna be interesting for sure!

The Republicans will force a shut down just so it will happen on Biden's watch and then blame him for it happening. Their base will believe them and vote them in again. Trump will tweet or X or whatever that he would have kept it from happening by introducing the best budget, some say the perfect budget, the best budget that has ever been and we'll see what happens.

If I'm not mistaken, there was a shutdown under Trump too, but only for a short period of time. I think this one will last much longer, because of the makeup of the House. McCarthy has zero control of his members. It's actually both sad and funny at the same time!

Strange how people calling themselves the freedom caucus are always holding people hostage.
