Can anyone give me some information on they type of neighborhood this is? Quiet? Kids? Solid neighbors? I'm considering a home for sale by owner so I don't have a realtor to consult.

A lot of FSBO will still work with a Buyers agent.

Bluff Park is the older part of Hoover, so less expensive (except for the homes with views). There are good deals to be had over there. And you're in Hoover, which means good schools and convenient access to the necessities. As the housing stock is older, a good inspection is paramount. There have probably been lots of additions over the years and you'll want to know things have been done properly.

Thanks for the advice. It seems the general opinion is that Hoover and Vestavia are both great places to live. The only problem I have with Hoover is there are so many neighborhoods. Are there some neighborhoods in Hoover you would suggest looking?

This would all depend on your price range

You really cant go wrong with the following, as far as nice homes, nice neighboorhoods, with good schools

Ross Bridge
The Arbors
Chase Lake
Russett Woods
Lake Cyrus

And for lower taxes, you have Hoover in Shelby County

Caldwell Crossings
South Point
Riverchase
Greystone

There are other good developments, but these are the more popular ones

Hope this helps

Good Luck!

Thanks for the information. It seem like some of what I've looked at online the newer subdivisions have nicer contemporary homes at the cost of smaller yards.

Yes, the newer the home, the smaller the property.

I think there are some good deals to be had in Riverchase. It started out in the late '70s and '80s and has larger, wooded lots. So, although the homes may be a bit dated, they are solid and afford some privacy. I have seen several under 300K, and the location is very convenient.
