I think you missed the part where the car was tuned. The 335d runs 13's stock and gets into the 12's with an ECU reflash. We're talking about a diesel here which is damn impressive because I didn't realize they were so quick with a reflash.
You realize this is now illegal in the state of California, and you must surrender your ALDL port upon request from CHP? Motortrend tested it at 14.2 1/4 mile, and that's as fast as a 1990 Z28 according to the link by the other poster. The OP is bragging about driving an illegal vehicle!
My point is there's a lot more out there today for the money that will smoke this car.

You are very wrong, the 335d is a beast with unparalleled combination of handling, torque and MPG for the price.
The new 328d are nice but not in the same class with their tamed 4 cylinder, but better MPG.

Even in stock form they have run as fast as 13.6 although 13.8 is easier to get.
I can understand a foreign car guy thinking 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and 1/4 mile et at 14.2 being fast. That's about the same as an 87 Camaro.
You have no clue whatsoever. It wasn't until 93 that the Camaro got the LT1 engine, and then you were looking at a 5.7 0-60 and low-mid 14's at sea level.

An 87 Camaro. LOL
Stats on the 87 Camaro......nothing over 225 HP if you got "the big motor!"
The only downside is that I hear the 335d's have all kinds of reliability problems. Carbon build up is pretty common on these cars. I've looked into them as a used purchase for a great combination of performance and efficiency but the maintenance would bury me.
This 335d motor is still available in the 5 series, soon to be 7 series and the X5.....but sadly the 3 series gets a smaller diesel.
Funny, I saw a 535d on the way home today and was wondering what was under the hood...
