I thought I saw some pictures of a 'main street' looking place, old stores, little restaurants,s etc.

Am I mistaken?

I'm looking at google maps and not finding anything like that.

If there is such a place what would the cross streets be?

Yes, there is, but most of Nampa's development has occurred outside this small core. Understand that before suburbia started to exist, Nampa and Boise were completely separate with farmland between, some of which still exists. Today, they are connected, and the new center is the Nampa Garrity Blvd. area just east of downtown off I-84.

Not interest in most of the development, interested in the 'small core'.

Where would it be?

There is a historic downtown Nampa district, Google or Bing it.

Their Facebook page has a map.

I haven't been out there for a while, but there is some great historic architecture and small local shops and restaurants. Their old train station is beautiful.

Cool, that's exactly what I was looking for.

The downtown area got a little seedy some time back, but has been going through a revitalization in the last few years. Cute, eclectic and a few good restaurants.

The old library (new one is very nice, but the one way streets around it seem awkward to me) will be revitalized soon, city just awarded a contract I believe.

PreFunk has a location downtown, proprietors are really nice and they have a lot of events going on (their dog Bialy is a cutie!), there are a few antique stores, some consignment-type, some not, Copper Canyon restaurant is pretty well known in food circles, it's not my favorite but it's good. Brick 29 is quite good, and you'll find some pretty good eats at Cafe de Cocoa (try their bread pudding!). LeBaron's Honker Cafe has been around awhile, good for breakfast and such. During the warmer months there is a variety of City sanctioned events; from artwalks to Fourth Fridays.

Flying M Garage has decent coffee, etc. too, along with music occasionally. Messenger Pizza is okay, eclectic and near PreFunk...you can order pizza and take it into PreFunk as PF doesn't serve food.

The downtown area is generally along 1st, 2nd, 3rd, crossed by 11th and 12th. Parking isn't usually a problem unless there is some popular event going on.

The Nampa Civic Center is about 7-8 blocks SW of the downtown area, there are some fun events there...but I think they need a new/better sound system. :-)

OH, and I forgot...the Canyon County Co-Op is opening in Jan! Did a little volunteer work for them and am really looking forward to shopping there!

I guess you found it. My description is accurate. Downtown Nampa is not very important.

Nampa has a cool downtown area that's quite small relative to the overall city.

So in that regard it's just like Meridian, Eagle and....Boise.
