I am sure Idaho will remain beautiful for eternity, or at least until the end of the world.

Well, considering the worst inversion event on record, called the Great Smog of '52 is now estimated to have been responsible for around 12,000 deaths (and 100,000 sickened) in December 1952 in London, I don't think it is fair to make that statement.

Darn those liberals and their Clean Air Acts that help try to keep Idaho beautiful

Comparing anything to the worse of its category is kind of silly. I'm sure people that live within a hundred miles of small volcanoes don't go around comparing their's to Pompeii.

I was responding to the OP's comparison to other extreme weather. They basically stated that an inversion couldn't be extreme, and I was showing that it can be.

It's fairly well documented that inversions, particulates in the air trapped by the inversion layer, and a lack of sunlight can have serious health effects on a person, especially the longer it lingers.

It's a bit smarmy to suggest otherwise. It might not affect you as seriously, but it certainly affects other people. But it's especially galling coming from someone who has never experienced it.
