Knox148 - I think the quality difference between centurylink and C1 is really about where you live. I had centurylink when I lived south of 84 near eagle road and it was horrible, barely able to stream a tv show at peak usage times, often crashing or freezing. Moved to north of 84 near Chinden and have Cableone, and never have had one instance of slowdown or freezing.

Local Channel Lineup

Food Network is on there as part of the standard & HD packages, but not in economy. Not sure how that relates to the 100 channel package.
We currently have Xfinity. Now that's a lot of channels.

As long as they have Food Network, the boss is happy.

Is Cableone in Star or is it just Centurylink?

Cable One is also in Star, but not in all parts. The entire Treasure Valley has been developed like a patchwork quilt instead of master planning effectively so you will have pockets in every city that lack service for cell phone providers, internet, TV, etc. For example, Century Link bases their bandwidth on distance from one point to another so if they had to route their lines out and around bare ground on one side of the street but not the other, you will get different answers. Eventually these pockets get filled in more consistently but not always.

Cable One was not very good at installing cable into brand new communities for a while. I was shocked at some of the new communities I was responsible for marketing that at times, Cable One said they were too busy to install when we were putting in all the infrastructure and somehow thought that waiting till people put in fences, trees and landscaping would help their scheduling better in the future.

Default High Speed Internet in Boise Rural areas

This has been a real problem trying to find a home with several acres in the outskirts of Boise, that actually had decent internet speed. Real estate agents were clueless, all the big internet carriers never serve any homes in rural areas, we know, as we called with each and every street address of each house we wanted to buy to find they did not provide internet to any rural address we gave them. We finally did find with lots of searching BestWirelessSolutions.com who does offer high speed internet service to rural areas. This was the solution we were looking for, as we had almost given up hope in being able to move to the Boise area. Now we have been able to purchase a house with a few acres in the outskirts rural area and they were able to install fast enough internet service. I am surprised with so many looking for internet service, that I did not see mention of them on the boards here, as that would have saved us a lot of time, as we turned down many houses because there wasn't any internet service. Hope this helps others moving to the rural Boise area. The ph is 208- 906 -066 2 Decent speed Internet service is possible without living in the city areas.

It's all about your neighborhood. I'm in a brand new house and Centurylink does optical right up to the house - I get great speeds, very reliable.

Of course they're a nightmare to do business with but that's true for most internet service providers.
