I'm 22 and I will be graduating from college in December and am looking to move out west from Georgia. Boise looked particularly appealing to me because of the easy access to so many outdoor oriented activities, the size of the city and the over all affordability of the city compared to other beautiful cities in the are like Denver and Seattle. I will graduate with a degree in International Affairs but I don't want to go into politics and am open to a wide array of career paths. So my questions for you guys would be
a. How is public transportation in Boise?
b. Are there things to do for younger 20's individuals?
c. How likely am I to find a job?
Welcome to the Boise/Idaho forums and congratulations on earning your degree.
On your questions, they have already been discussed fully and frequently here. I suggest you spend a few hours/days/weeks going through a lot of the old threads and you will find that your questions have already been answered. Good luck.
A. Public transportation leaves a lot to be desired since our buses make a complete loop so you have to time your trip accordingly. Parking is mostly free so we can't people to take public transportation. (For example, the closest thing to paid parking in Meridian is if you get a ticket for parking too close to the intersection or blocking a fire hydrant).
B. Boise is a college town that is trying to grow up so you should do just fine.
C. Idaho is really trying to build it's export business relationships, so you should have an above average chance of landing a job in your chosen field. I have seen postings from the Idaho Dept. of Commerce for trade missions to China and Vietnam recently.
Hope this helps. People are friendly here, but it isn't like the southern hospitality of parts of Georgia.
