If you don't want growth, then you'll need to look at an area that doesn't have jobs, good healthcare options, has weather no one wants to live in, etc. Boise has it all, and that's why it's growing.

There are lots of places that are growing, it all depends on what you want. If you want the big city life, then you probably won't like it here. If you want to live in the boonies, same deal. But, if you want to raise a family in a safe area with a decent cost of living, aren't stuck inside all winter or summer and want to be around nice people, this area is great.

I have a buddy who retired and moved to Salmon. He's afraid to buy a house because he doesn't know if he'll ever be able to sell it, because everyone in town (unless they own a business) earns minimum wage. I asked him how people buy a house, and he said they don't.

Idaho, as a state, grew just over 216,000 people since 2010. Texas grew 3.75M. Texas is bigger, you might say. Texas grew about 14 people per square mile since 2010, Idaho about 2 1/2 people per square mile during that same timeframe.

It's all relative, and unless you are OK living in an area without jobs and good healthcare, you're going to see growth as the population of the country grows.
I agree on all of the above.
