My problem with this is that they usually destroy the books. It's just for show.

I would assume it is a book store display.

Don't be too sure. The last one I saw was in the window of Saks, and when I really looked, it was clear that they'd either glued them all together or driven a stake through them.

Well, that's depressing. Obviously it was hollow in the center. Guess they couldn't find enough books? Ugh. Even if a book sucks, I couldn't destroy it.
