I just got back from Goodwill and I ended up paying $5 and $3 for 2 books! They were all piled on top of each other in 7 large plastic bins. Small paperbacks go to $2 each. I recognize alot of the same used books there from 6 months ago. The ONLY reason why I paid $5 and $3 for mine was because one of them happens to be very rare and is actually worth a bit of money, and the other is a new release. Outside of the the rare find or newly released book i can't imagine why anyone would want to pay these kind of prices. I thought the idea was to sell these books, not hoard them.

Prices aren't that high at the Goodwill in small town TN. Guess it depends on location.

Wow. Even my public library doesn't charge more than 50 cents to a dollar.

Well come to my library, you'll find a single book priced as high as $6. To be fair there is a room with magazines and other books for as low as $0.50 but most are priced above $2. I guess I was spoiled after never having to pay more than $0.50, at a previous library I often visited in NY.

It's not a charity that gives away books, it's how they make money to help the people they employ and train.

Aside from the fact that Goodwill happens to be a charity which needs funding, why are you b*tching about $5 for a book you admit is rare?

What does it matter how rare it is? Did Goodwill know that when they labeled it? The book could have been the Davinci Code and they would have marked $4.99 all the same. This is an irrelevant point.

Yes! And if you don't like the prices in a store: pass 'em by, pass 'em by.

Seems like a no-brainer.

Your whole lament is irrelevant. If you don't like the prices, don't shop there!!!!!

No, it is really not. You took advantage of a charity and then came on here to post how they are trying to "take advantage" of you.
