Can someone recommend some books on presidential elections since 1896? Preferably by either the candidate themselves or someone who was involved or reported on the campaign. I've read a ton of the 2016 election already but interested in other ones.
"The Making of the President" series is a solid start. Theodore White was a uniquely qualified writer/observer. Four books, 1960-1972, and a fifth general book about elections from 1956-1980.
