Can anyone recommend a good book for me to purchase for my dad for xmas.

He likes political intrigue.

He also reads current event political type stuff, right-leaning.

Thanks, in advance.

If he likes gripping non-fiction, Ranulph Fiennes' books are fantastic - he is the world's greatest living adventurer.

His works include:

Could you give a ballpark age for you father? It makes a difference.

I suggest "Seven Days in May" by Fletcher Knebel & Charles W Bailey, II.

Anything by John Le Carre. "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold" is my personal favorite but there are many titles by this author.

Anything by Robert Ludlum is good.

Graham Greene's books are great. "The Third Man" is a good one.

These are old books. Your father may have read them.

He might like books by Martin Cruz Smith. I sure do.

Ahhh. Chances are that he's already read the books I mentioned.

Dan Brown's "Deception Point" is probably one he would like.

I like Vince Flynn. If your Dad has not read any of Flynn's books start him off with one of his first ones. They are all written as stand alone stories but by starting with the first of the series the characters become more human.

Other authors he might like: David Baldacci, Tom Clancy, Ken Follett, John Forsythe, and one of my all time favorites Herman Wouk. Herman Wouk's best books were WINDS OF WAR and the sequel WAR AND REMEMBRANCE. Give him the Wouk books this year and next year you can give him the DVD's of the books. The DVD's are over thirty hours of intensely interesting video.

I know that's a wrong answer in the wrong place but I can't keep my mouth shut

Sorry, I think I'm growing old, but the best recommendation for your father is to read your aprobation and love to him in your eyes.

A father.
