As I understand it, and in raw numbers, Boston is set to surpass NYC in VC funding for 2018. A city of <700k and it's companies are set to receive more VC backing than a city of 8.5M and the backbone of the US economy.

The good? The bad? The ugly? Are we surprised?

Meh, you’re right Massnative. Who cares about bio/tech. They’ve only affected Eastern Massachusetts more than any new industry has affected the area in the last century.

But, being that they’re two of the four largest verticals in this city, I’d say people might care. Kind of a big deal when 10% of the population works in the space. And if you don’t? I bet you’ll care about the continued increase in COL, the growing wage gap, and the ever increasing traffic. Haven’t you been on here complaining about those very things?

Yes indeed you have.

Of course it affects everything, but I don't think anybody in Boston really cares who's #1 or #2 or #3.

Bio/tech has been a big player forever now, it's no secret and certainly not new news.

New York has so many more people, but a lot of their economy is focused on an older model. It’s sad they can’t compete with Boston

I too care, This is not akin to having the number 1 lobster roll in the country. Kudos to the bean for something other than sports.
