My Spanish husband and I (American) are moving to Boston in early 2009 and are wondering if anyone knows whether there is any kind of community of Spaniards in the area. We would like to make sure our 1-year-old grows up with some knowledge of both of her cultures.

Of course we're also interested in the Spanish language. Does anyone know of Spanish-speaking daycare for very young children?

Thanks.

I think I just responded to another thread of yours. I would google bilingual daycares. Or, you might have a good chance of having a bilingual environment in a home daycare type of setting (though that's harder to find within city limits). It depends on where you'll be. Cheers!

Just an thought, but there is a Spanish Consulate in Boston and they may have some ideas and information for you.

Thanks for the good suggestions. I've been looking for bilingual daycares and found that French seems to be more popular, but I did find one Spanish one. The home daycare setting isn't something I know much about, but I'll look into it. And the suggestion of the Spanish Consulate is a great idea. I had been thinking of the Cervantes Institute, but they don't have one in Boston.

Hi, I am wondering if you ended up finding a Spanish preschool? If so, which one? Thanks!

Sunshine academy in Brookline has 3 locations. 1 of them teaches Mandarin, another teaches Spanish. They also bring their own snacks in for the kids from an organic market. I'm pretty sure they have waiting lists for many of their programs but it's worth checking out.
