I saw people in another thread say people in Boston are usually "very tall" because there are so many "Irish/German jocks".

Statistically only like 5% of the MA population has German ancestry (very low compared to most states) so Idk how they came up with that. And Irish people are definitely not tall compared to other ancestries.

I also don't think there are many "jocks" here compared to other cities

Is there any truth to this? I've honestly never noticed people in Boston being taller than other US cities but maybe that's just me.

Men in Boston are tall. Men in Boston are short. Men in Boston are average. A whole range of heights, just like anywhere else.

Try Austin or San Antonio. I'm 6 feet and grew up in central Mass. Other than a little gap in the heavily German Hill Country, I'm a friggin giant down here.

I'm 6'1", and feel like I tower over most. Comes in handy at concerts and shows though.

No. I'm 6' and feel tall for around here. When I visit my wife's family in Minnesota I feel average at best. We once had a group of students from Groningen in the Netherlands (the tallest part of the tallest country) and I felt downright short. Even half of the women were taller than me.

That was going to be my comment. I'm 6'2". In Massachusetts, I'm tall. In Minneapolis/St Paul, I'm barely average.
