This Thanksgiving we are thinking of coming into the city and having dinner at a restaurant. Last year we ate at Durgin Park. Well obviously we won't be going back this year. I have been poking around online but thought maybe some of you might have good suggestions.

What we are looking for is some place that is NOT a buffet. We hate those! We have two kids, seven and thirteen, so a place where both they and the other patrons are comfortable with them being there. We are coming in on the train from Worcester so something convenient to that is nice but not necessary.

Probably most important is the food has to be good. We can be kind of food snobs. Durgin Park fell pretty short last year. Thanks for any suggestions!

If you want to trek out to Cambridge Henrietta's table does Thanksgiving and is a great restaurant. Could be on the pricier side. In Kenmore square The Eastern Standard also does Thanksgiving. Both are great.

Hotel restaurants are always a good bet on the holidays. Eastern Standard as mentioned above would be good. A few additional places I put together for a friend who used my place while I was out of town a few years ago include: Harvest (Harvard Sq), Grill 23 (Back Bay), Top of the Hub (Back Bay). TOTH is normally not my favorite, but the view can't be beat and it would be nice for a holiday I think.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have found a couple of strong contenders from them. Eastern Standard is the current favorite.

I ran across Beehive. Has anyone been there? Should I add it to my list of possibles?

Beehive is great. They usually have a live jazz band. I would absolutely check that out if there is a band that day.

They are having live music all day. I really think my kids will love that. Ok it's on the list! I just need the husband to voice his opinion and make an early reservation.

Thanks again for all the help!

If you have never been, I would definitely go there over the other options. It's in a downstairs dark bar with table seating and stage in the corner. It's smack dab in the heart of the south end, so you could take a walk and look at some of the best brownstone alley streets in Boston. A cool place for sure. That would be my pick.

We took a family vote and Beehive won! I already made our reservation. I can not wait.

Last year we decided to start a new tradition of going out for Thanksgiving. What I didn't know was waiting until three weeks before the date severely limited our options. I learned my lesson and started much earlier this year.

Thanks again. The suggestions and help are appreciated.

Beehive, great choice. Sister venue Beat Hotel in Harvard Square (now Beat Brew Hall) does a Thanksgiving feast and is very fun atmosphere too.
