The 6th district in Boston (parts of JP and Westy) elected Kendra Hicks.

Apparently, she thinks the city should get rid of the police and prisons.

Not to reform them, but abolish them.

Dear Bromley-Heath, Academy, South Street, Archdale, etc folks,

Cops are a lot less likely to arrest you when word of the day is defundabolish, there’s zero guns in JP other than those you have and in addition to defundies JP is also full of latest model iPhones, wallets full of cash and all sorts of cards, Rolexes, bikes and cars waiting to be donated to those less fortunate. Just saying…

What a great philosophy for a city councilor. Not surprising, though. The hard left only know abolish, destroy, eliminate and no interest or abilities in finding collaborative workable solutions.

"Democratic socialist". Somehow the name Alexander Fyordorovich Kerensky comes to my mind when I think about that term.

We might not always like the actions of police but they do have the real control over having a resting power. Citizen's arrest in this state are extremely weak to say the least. Even in a non-violent situation there can be situations where you have to use police as a form of force. If someone does not appear in court and has a summons that summons can then become a warrant for their arrest issued by local sheriff's department.

We can talk about private security and cameras and motion detectors all we want but at the end of the day if you can't really arrest someone and detain someone there is only so much you can do.

Deterrence isn't a bad thing. I remember long ago when Walmart said they wouldn't prosecute for anything under $25. That makes sense but it can also encourage theft.

I generally think if you want to reduce that what you have to do is you have to cut down on parking and cut down on cash. After you do that from a nose don't have a fast way to get in and out and they really can't grab anything and then dispute it like cash. After that you implement some rfids and wouldn't you know you label "smart" on every product you have and you know where it is. A group of people just stole a number of TVs from Walmart in Connecticut. If any of these are smart TVs they're going to know where the activation is going to be. Unless you're going to hook it up to an antenna and be happy with 12 channels you're going to have to hook it up to some internet or cable platform which is going to have identification because that's all two way

It's a dumb idea. I think both the police and our prisons could benefit from reform. But there is no question that you need a law enforcement system and a penal system, or you'll have something like anarchy. As the old saying goes, "don't throw out the baby with the bath water".

It's not. It's down substantially across all districts except A-1. That's why idiots like this get elected, the city is being gentrified by whacko liberals.
