Luckily i went to school before the establishment of Wokestapo and my grades alone got me a pretty decent scholarship but let’s be honest, there’s a very good chance that scholarship would have gone to someone with much lower grades and much higher melanin content had I been applying today.

Your comment sounds like jealousy or frustration, and I don't believe that it’s my fault I got a merit scholarship NOT BASED ON FINANCIAL NEED. You won’t be paying for it either. I guess you are one of those college-educated Bostonians who went to school for a job and became an expert in your field, but not in anything else in life. I won’t be studying on taxpayers' money or your money.
Again, you are taking very generic frustrations, self-inflicted mind you, out on the forum.

If you approached the situation differently you may have gotten a very different response.

I hate word “classicism”, especially from people who think they are entitled to things like Section 8.
I’m from former socialist country. If you think it’s classicism that prevents you from living in one of the most advanced and expensive city think again. In so-called classless societies you would have many more obstacles which you won’t be able to overcome. Absence of money will be your very last problem.

I LOVE Boston. It’s very expensive to live there unless you are ok with apartment/condo. This is why I live in suburbs and visit city at every occasion. I live in Massachusetts for 25+ years and in my time here Boston is getting better and better.

That's just the house. Now add 1 or 2 kids.
Friend of mine was quoted 4500/month for a "bright horizons" daycare in Boston. Per child.

A family of 4 that wants a real middle class lifestyle (cars, vacations, childcare, eating out here and there) needs an income of probably around 300-400k.

Classicism: the following of ancient Greek or Roman principles and style in art and literature, generally associated with harmony, restraint, and adherence to recognized standards of form and craftsmanship, especially from the Renaissance to the 18th century.

That's part of why there's so many nannies and au pairs in Boston. If you have 2-3 kids, it's cheaper to hire a full-time nanny with benefits than to pay a daycare, and you get a lot more flexibility on hours.

I don't know how cheap nannies are particularly when they're used to working for a wealthy family. I know nannies who have quit teaching jobs because they were making more working for wealthy families in the area. I'm sure price varies but I don't think a nanny is always cheaper than a day care. $4500 a month for daycare seems extremely high but I guess i'm not surprised these days.

The cost of taking care of children has become ridiculous. People say oh but these are your kids, don't you want to pay someone well to take care of your kids? it's BS and the price has skyrocketed since so there are so many two income households now. People and places know they can take advantage of charging so much since it's something people need unless someone quits their job to stay home and do it themselves. Taking care of kids doesn't require skill and it's not rocket science. I guess it's been useful birth control for some as this is a reason people wait so long to have kids and then have only 1 or 2.

Yep.
But that's not a cheap option. It's just "cheaper".

While $4500 is on the higher end (Bright Horizons is like the 'premium' option for daycare), even back in 2019 it was impossible to find anything near downtown for much under $3000/kid/month, and I'm sure that price is even higher now. With 2 kids, you're talking $70-90k/year for daycare in Boston, and you can get a good nanny for less than that. With 3 or more kids, the savings gets even larger. It's still going to be less costly overall to go with daycare for a single child, though.

Go 20-30 miles outside of downtown and the price comes down considerably. We looked at daycares north of Boston that priced out to around half of what we were quoted in Boston, but of course then your kid is 'commuting' to daycare. If you work outside the city it's not so bad, but that's not going to be very viable for a family that both lives and works in Boston.
