I had to read the title twice to make sure I understood. This isn't the south. This isn't Chicago. This is happening in liberal Boston folks.

I am floored by the news lately.

Horrible. I notice the article says, 'Police did not say what kind of disciplinary action the student could face.'

I mean what in the hell could you or should you do to a 7 yr old who gets access to a loaded gun?? I would think DCf will be taking the kid away from that house. It's not the kid it's the parent(s). Some kids can be difficult but no child should be able to get to a gun.

But you never really know. He could have found the "neighborhood gun" when playing outside the previous afternoon.

We also have a revolving door of justice spinning so fast we could power the whole state if we hooked it up to a generator.

Or it could be an older siblings or friend's.

During my elementary school days, kids were caught bringing pocketknives to school and that was already a sensational thing. Now they have graduated to bringing firearms, which they probably don't even know how to use properly, to school. No degree of law is going to prevent such things, if these kids were left to be lawless, they will be lawless.

I guess I am misinformed, but do some or most...or no...city of Boston schools, suburban schools, private schools, and schools in Lawrence, Brockton, Springfield, etc. nowadays not already have screening for weapons at the main or even other entrances?

Yes, I realize even if they all did, at obvious great expense, that all it takes is for a student or accomplice to place a weapon in a field adjacent to the school, and it could be used during outdoor recess or even sports practices, or even games with many spectators, to commit an assault.

Just wondering...

That’s never a thing below high school. Most BPS high schools foot rid of detectors a few years back.
