Can anyone explain why they've put up the NO LEFT TURN sign at Porter St & London St in Eastie? Exiting off the E. Boston Expy into Eastie, just before Sumner Tunnel, traffic really gets unnecessarily backed up. People heading towards Maverick Square should be able to make that left & keep moving. Why are 'No Left Turns' allowed? Thanks.

If its the intersection I'm thinking of, probably because all it takes is 1-2 cars stuck waiting to make a left turn to back up traffic into the expressway.

It’s been there for as long as I’ve lived in the neighborhood (with a several month hiatus - I’m guessing it was hit). IME, people just ignore it. There’s a stop sign for traffic heading the other direction and London doesn’t get too backed up, so it’s a non-issue really. The bigger issue is taking the left from London on Meridian. Even if there wasn’t a sign, I’d still go around and use the lights to my advantage. That left isn’t fun and I’ve rarely had an issue with delays.
