Yes, and yes.

Some of them, maybe many of them, identify as heterosexual men, maybe even married with careers? Whether gay, bi or straight, perhaps it's a very part-time endeavor just to have fun and entertain and not 24/7 at Stop & Shop, the T, gay church events, riding the swan boats on the Public Garden or watching July 4 fireworks at the Hatch Shell. (Just being sarcastic with these examples).

Hmm...but who really knows?

I wonder if tv ratings for RuPaul's Drag Race show will be affected or has been affected recently with all of the drag story controversy recently in grade schools and libraries. And aren't drag brunch and evenings popular with some gays and maybe even certain types of open-minded straights, probably groups of male and female friends likely in urban settings?

Maybe those who had been attending such events are now suddenly turned off and will no longer frequent and support this "lifestyle"?

I was repulsed by a NY Post story online yesterday about NY's Pride being tarnished by a group of dressed up transvestites and maybe even supporters, chanting "we're here, we're ***** and we're coming after your children!" Can you believe the bravado of these transvestites?

I, as well as a few commenters on the article, simply figured it was only in jest especially in light of all the recent controversy about transvestites supposedly being "groomers" but some commenters did not believe so and asserted these people are serious and are indeed after the children. It's obviously nothing to ever joke about!

I can't believe it's all devolved into this...but it's 2023 and probably some if not most straights knew it would all dissolve into this mess. Sets gay pride issues back decades, I assume. Much of the general public, who may have tolerated or even approved the drag queen movement in recent years, maybe due to RuPaul making it more mainstream, and maybe considered fun and even glamorous to some, now seems sick and tired, and disgusted, by it now and are speaking out.

I am a gay male, and this drag element has never, ever appealed to me. No interest, whatsoever. Maybe even repulsed. Not sure if most gay males and even lesbians feel the same. Maybe more of the younger generation tolerates or even enjoys it, even with all these incidents in school libraries and now this South Boston tragedy.
Boston Guy ,I for one dont give a rats ass what Adults do with each other or too each other , but when young CHILDREN are brought into the venue it becomes a whole new ballgame and does light a fire in meany people with young kids and I mean a big fire.

If someone thinks their but they're thin it's a mental disorder and people are typically taken to a dr for that if it gets extreme

I know a few trans people who are very nice but I do think we've gone off the rails as a society to think it's normal and acceptable for man to become a woman. What if I woke one day and as a white woman decided I'm an Asian man and decided to look like one as much as possible? People would think I had major issues for that.

This seems to be transvestites involved in this incident.

The described the dead person as a woman...then I've also seen them described as male.

I've seen "a man wearing a wig".

I continue to be puzzled by this whole business, and the way officials have disagreed about what happened. And as far as I'm aware, the dead person and cause of death haven't been named yet--surely that's public record? I see in msRB311's link that it was a drug overdose, no surprise there (OK, let's say it's "claimed to be a drug overdose").

Here are City Council members behaving in a dignified manner regarding the incident:

It's seeming as if the police and Mayor Wu are falling over themselves not to let this event cause transgender people to get any bad publicity. As always, once there's a suspicion of a coverup, it all begins to look much worse.

I'm surprised that interest in this incident has fallen off so rapidly! But there was an article in the Globe 7/7/23 where the writer seems to have made an effort to collect the facts which have emerged so far:
https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/07/...n-culture-war/

The article calls the dead person a "woman" several times, and a "trans woman" just once. It also says "The death certificate for the woman lists her last known address as Brockton and a cause of death as “pending.” "
