Honestly I think a dead body found in South Boston with kids around the corpse in the house would have grabbed headlines. That right there is pretty horrifying. Throwing in the cross dressing and drugs makes it even more crazy

Horrifying yes, but uncommon? No. I personally know of at least 3 instances over the past several years where a parent or friend of a parent has died of an OD in a home while kids are in the home. In one instance, one of the kids found the body. Not one of them made the news. It happens a lot, unfortunately. If you talk to firefighters in cities across the state, the frequent response to fatal ODs (often with kids and family present) and repeat revivals on the same people with Narcan are big sources of frustration and burnout. Needless to say, most firefighters didn't sign up for that.

2,357 people died from opiate related overdose deaths in Massachusetts in 2022. I don't remember many of them making headlines.

I guess I haven't heard of this happening often.

I do know of plenty of parents who get intoxicated and smoke pot around their kids. I'm sure they are judging away at this situation. I mean this situation is awful...but getting drunk or high around your kids doesn't exactly make you parent of the year either.

Probably because it doesn't often make the news. As a state we averaged over 8 OD deaths per day in 2022. The cumulative (2,357 deaths in 2022) makes the news, but individual cases rarely do.

^ I don't believe any of those statements. Do you?

That's the exact opposite of the original report. They're making the adults sound like heroes instead of what they really are. Someone has an agenda so say bye-bye to this story.

That's the Police summary of the incident. What original report are you referring to?

Bad parents come from all kinds of backgrounds, rich, poor, educated or otherwise. Throwing the words transgender and cross dressing says nothing about their parenting skills but it sure does get some people more riled up.

Cross dressing+drugs+sex toys+dead body+unsanitary section 8 housing+kids locked in a closet actually says quite a lot about their parenting skills.

The original report done by BFD first responders.

That's a media version. Appears that the drugs and alcohol and "squalid" conditions and sex toys seem to be the main pieces of conflicting info. The article indicating children were being isolated in a bedroom is pretty consistent with the police version. Then there's something in the article about a man wearing a wig and men with women's clothing which presumably were left out of the police version because they aren't necessarily relevant to the facts of the incident. So whether the conditions were squalid and whether there were drugs and alcohol strewn about seem to be at issue here. BPD did file a 51A so they clearly felt the situation warranted a closer look by DCF. It's possible the place was cleaned up before police arrived but nobody knows how long it was from the time fire got there until police arrived.
