We are a family with 2 little ones. We've heard great things about the schools in areas surrounding Boulder. Does anyone have suggestions for a good apartment complex in an area around Boulder? superior, louisville, broomfield... we want to rent while we look for a house. If you know of any good appartment complex, we would really appreciate it.

Thanks

There aren't a lot of apt complexes outside of Boulder. One I can think of is the Horizons in Superior. Rentals in Louisville tend to be more houses, or individual condos in a complex. There are lots of complexes in Boulder proper.

My experience is that apartment complexes, that is, those managed by a large corporate outfit, are almost by definition a bad deal for the tenants (great for the shareholders of the corporation however!) I've never, ever, ever had a good experience with any of them in Colorado and could never recommend one over the other.

That being said, if you're looking for a big complex, there's many in Boulder proper. You said outside of Boulder: Meadow Creek apartments is in the Gunbarrel area and just out of Boulder city limits. The Legacy in Longmont is also very popular among those who work in Boulder. Both are expensive and overpriced, as expected.

My family and I lived in the Horizons at Rock Creek in Superior while we looked for a home last year. Simpson Property Group | Dwell in Satisfaction
We have 2 kids and we found the 3 bedroom to be adequate for a few months. It is a very nice complex.

There are a couple of nice complexes just north of the Flatiron Mall in Broomfield and in the Gunbarrel area of Boulder such as the Habitat Apartments (who also offer a 6-month lease). There are a few in Longmont that are going to be cheaper than Boulder apartments though: eg; Ute Creek or Cloverbasin. Check out forrent.com or move.com for more info.
