Hello all. I am looking at real estate in the mountains. It is imperative that this home be in Boulder County. I have some experience with winter mountain driving, and I understand that it is a part of life in high country. I'm OK with that, and I've done it many times before. Alas, it still sucks, as I'm sure you'll agree.

Are any of the main access roads significantly less treacherousness than others come winter? For example, would it be wiser to look at homes off Lefthand Canyon versus say Sugarloaf, or vise versa?

Thanks!

PS, I'm more than willing to answer any pertinent follow-up questions for clarification.

Pine Brook Hills is the closest mountain community with an easy commute. Lower Sunshine Canyon can also be fairly easy. Yes, down in the canyons
(Boulder, Left Hand) are usually well plowed but living in the bottom of the canyons you might miss some daily sunshine. Sugarloaf can be a tougher ride if you are up past the narrows towards the top. The mountains offer a great life style but the winter commute from further out of town can be demanding on snow days, a decent all wheel drive car in the family is a good idea.
