+++hello, i am a 27yr male, i lived in RI my whole life until a few months ago. i just moved to Tampa FL and im not really liking it to much. But i didnt like RI either, so now im thinking of another move. I wanted to know if anyone could give me a few pointers, or feedback about if boulder would be a good place for me to atleast take a trip to check oout.
+++First off, i am an auto body painter, ive done it for 8 years now, and i really enjoy it. I am single and would be moving there alone without anyone I know ( same as this tampa trip), i enjoy having a good time, bars, clubs, meeting people, ect.
+++The reason i moved from RI and pretty much the same reason i want to move again, i guess i would say the people and the attitudes dont fit my tastes. ( i mean life is short, i dont want to waste my life being unhappy)
So basically, ive done some research, and i cant 100% tell how people in boulder are, but with the younger crowd, and just some of the events the city holds ( holloween naked run) it seem pretty cool. The weather wouldnt bother me, and infact, i would love being in the mountains, snow, fireplaces, hot tubs ect.
+++Ive actually checked on craigs list for people sharing houses seeing that is how ive rented the past few times, ( i dont have much stuff or know anyone, seems to suite me well ) i found some really sweet deals. So as far as i can tell, money wouldn't be a problem, and im sure work is there, people crash in the snow.
+++So, really i guess im looking to find out how the people are and if i would have a prolem finding work. If all goes well, i would schedual a trip to check it out for myself. thanks in advance. mike

+++sorry for the jumping around, im not a writer... anyone who wants to check me out, im on myspace.com/mikewu9900

Mike,

I just happened to land on this site today, and have had some fun scoping it out. I have just glanced around this site ... and saw that you hadn't gotten an answer yet.
I am a Colorado native, and after living in Connecticut for 15 years, I was SO HOMESICK for Colorado. I have been in Gunnison for 2 years now, also a college town, and despite the 4 hr drive to Denver, I love it! We have awesome mountain biking, great kayaking, and great skiing ... what more could you want?

I think you will like Boulder. It is a pricey place to live, but if you are young and willing to rent/share, you'll probably find something. If not, check out neighboring towns like Longmont, Broomfield. Boulder is very liberal. (Another post said "granola-eating, hybrid-car driving, natural fiber wearing .... LIBERAL!!), but they also have some 'we can afford to live here' attitudes, too. Boulder is surprisingly white, for all that. I like the liberal, college town aspect, and it is a lovely place to be. Tune in the the college radio station and check 'em out. radio1190.org

One thing I really missed about CO when in CT was the sunshine. In CT it didn't get very cold, but it got damp and gray and stayed that way most of the winter. In CO, sure you get snow, but two days later the sun is out and the birds are singing and it is an awesome beautiful place to live and play - all year round!

OK, so sometimes it gets damn cold up here in Gunnison, CO, but ... the fire is cozy, and I have books to read. I don't miss the humidity or the black flies one bit.

I think you will find work. auto body loc: Boulder, CO - Google Maps (http://tinyurl.com/yrvx7n - broken link) Try neighboring towns, too.

Come on out. Ski, kayak, mountain bike, party, paint cars. Look at it as your next adventure. Bet all your family will be begging for invites to come visit.

Welcome to the sunshine,
MP
