Depending on the size and location, yes.

In a relatively good side of Boulder. I don't want to be in a slum, yet I don't have to live in a gated community. Just something in a nice area near amentities.

Boulder is not large. Wherever you rent in town, you will be near amenities. I don't know if there are any gated communities in Boulder proper.

the apartment i had before getting married was in Broomfield. it cost 660.00 for a one bedroom. I bet you can get a two bedroom for a little more. The traffic on US-36 (boulder turnpike) in the mornings and evenings is horrid. I work in boulder and live in northern. A normal non rush hour, it takes me 15 min. to get to the office. During rush hour, im lucky to hit a 45 min. commute.

Thanks, that's good to know.

For 25 mile drive its always 45-60 minute drive reguardless out here in Austin...

I built-up a lot of patience since living here and I now I won't mind as much moving back to CO. I mean at least I can stare at the mountains while going to work.

pittinurse - what do you consider Longmont, Co in general/crime? Is it more of a cookie cutter community or does it have plenty of areas to get groceries and shopping done at? How about raising kids and how are the schools? Plenty of youth sports? Like YMCA, Pop-Warner or any other type of youth centers to where kids are active in activites and not getting into trouble? Any idea?

Well, I don't live there, so I don't have first-hand information. But yeah, Longmont is a "real" city with a downtown shopping area (not a lot there) and a mall, the usual big-box stuff, too. Schools are good, as far as I know. Sports are big all over here. I have girls, don't know much about the younger kids' football scene, but there is a recreation center and rec teams.

Longmont has LOTS of areas with shopping/groceries. There is the main shopping area along Hover with King Sooper, JC Penney, Kohl's, PetSmart, Borders and Super Target. Ken Pratt Blvd has a lot of the smaller chains, some car dealerships, Safeway, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marshalls, etc. Main Street is the older centre of Longmont with individually owned stores. Prospect New Town is a development at the south end of Main Street with funky new housing and shops. Thanks to all the development at the northern end of Pace Street there is a large shopping area at the intersection with 17th Street that includes a large Safeway and another King Sooper plus liquor stores, drycleaner, etc. Longmont also has two historic districts on either side of Main Street, there are several parks, a YMCA, and so on. I don't have kids so I don't know what the schools are like but I believe they are pretty good. Check out the city's website at City of Longmont, Boulder County, Colorado; Official Government Website and go to links like the Youth Center or Recreation Center.

You might hear comments about Longmont's crime and drug problem. Yes, there are gangs in the city but we're not East LA. There have been incidents involving gang members but also several arrests. Longmont's police dept has its own gang division and you can contact them for more details at Home Page. Longmont Police Department, City of Longmont, Colorado. or Longmont Police News.
