I think greater Boulder is diverse in that they let Republicans move in.

That is so true. A friend of mine was visiting from Malibu (not the most ethnically diverse part of Southern California) and we were on Pearl St. She just stopped and said "My God this place is SO white!".

I have lived in Boulder for many years and now live in Denver. The biggest complaint I hear people talk about in Boulder is that it is not diverse enough, so they move to Denver, which is a lot more diverse. Then, they go and hang out with all their white friends in Denver!

Boulder is an absolutely gorgeous town. It has a huge amount going for it, I could go on for awhile but I'm sure you already know these things since you've spent some time there. It does lack diversity, but to me, personally, this is a minor concern. You take diversity, I'll take a thriving music scene, great job opportunities, decent to great weather, active and happy people, a social and friendly atmosphere, access to great ski resorts, mountain biking, etc etc etc
