Wildfires are burning in Boulder County north of Boulder/west of Niwot. Evacuations have been ordered in threatened areas. There are strong winds blowing, fanning the fires. So far, "some structures" have burned; fortunately there are no reported injuries; hope all humans and animals affected are safe.

I will be very upset if these fires get into Dakota ridge sub-division. the homes I designed are right on the side where it is burning. I hope veryone gets out of the way of these things asap. The wind all day in Boulder has been very very bad.

Dakota Ridge has been ordered evacuated; let's all keep our fingers crossed.

Where I am the winds seem to be the strongest they've been all day. The firefighters have a long night ahead of them. Lets hope these winds calm soon!

Wow! They are saying the fire is 6,400 acres. Winds are coming down so I hope they get it all contained soon.

Wow! Isn't it amazing how even in the dead of winter Colorado can burn! I hope everyone is safe and no homes are lost to these fires.

Default Still burning

still burning this morning...I work a few miles from the area...the winds are still gusty as well...took a motorcycle ride before work to a vantage point from just North of Boulder Reservoir.

this is why the local agencies harp on everybody about having 'defensible space' around here, even when you don't live in heavily timbered areas.

I'm in southwest Longmont and from my office in my house I could see the fires. The winds were very gusty all night. I was up at 3am (coughing - stupid cold) and then was kept awake by the wind. I'm not really seeing any smoke right now - just charred hillside.

It seems the winds have been relentless the pass couple weeks.

The news reports say 1400 acres burned. God bless the firefighters who fought through the terrible winds and flames to save so many homes and lives. They have done an incredible job under very dangerous conditions.

Wow - just saw live video from the 9News helicopter of homes that showed the fire literally licked at their back doors. One close up showed a deck burned but the home was saved. KUDOS to the firefighters!
