I recently got a speeding ticket in Boulder...on Broadway just north of Table Mesa. I'm considering fighting it. Anyone have any expereince doing this and if so any reccomendations no how to successfully fight a Boulder City speeding ticket?

By the way I was told I was doing 56 in a 40.

Thanks in advance

What would be your basis for fighting it? Just curious.

56 in a 40? Is that a $150 ticket or so? Certainly you could hire a lawyer but I'd assume it cost you at least $500 for him to represent you in court. And then you may still lose, the courts can only throw out a certain number of cases as it's part of generating revenue for the city.

Don't ever not fight a ticket. You were actually doing 45 right? Here is how it will turn out both scenarios.

1) You do not fight it: You end up with 6 points on your license pay $150 and your insurance goes up.. Defensive driving will only take off 4 of the points.

2) You fight it: Present your own case in court, talk to the DA, fight it, and for an hour’s work, you could have it dropped to a parking on pavement ticket, 0 points because it’s a non-moving violation and you save your points for another ticket

I have plenty of bull Sh*& tickets in my life, and have had the system compromise for me. They really only want your money.

Now some hippy will chime in and tell me that "no, they only want to keep Boulder safe". BS, because I've seen more frigged up situations happen in the city of Boulder because people are driving too slow. If I was behind you and you were doing 56 in a 40, you would have made my day. Good luck with everything and do the right thing and fight it. I’m with you!

What I did when I got a ticket was admit I did it then quickly ask for a deferment, that caught the officer off guard as he was expecting me to fight thus he let me have the deferment. Now that was the state patrol and it was in Pueblo but that might work up there, especially if you have a clean record.

Since I got the ticket I have come to realize that I doubt I was going as fast as 56 in a 40 and I don't think the officer was using radar.

It doesn't say anywhere on the ticket how I was clocked.

The ticket is for 4 points
If I pay in $100 in advance they will drop it to 2 points without me going to court.

I was looking for advice on whether it is worth fighting a speeding ticket in Boulder city courts or should I just give in and pay the fine and take the points.

By the way I have a clean record going back almost 10 years.

NO! Fight the ticket, I'll even go with you, speeding tickets are BS. This is America, we should be able to drive as fast as we want without killing someone, I know it sounds juvenile but it’s true. Slow lane for grandpa fast lane for you and I, and anyone that slows down the fast lane should get a ticket.

Keep that record clean and don’t worry about a thing. PM me if you need help, I live in N. Boulder
