Olympian Stevenson has died of a heart attack. Sad news. He was only 60.

I thought his presence in the Olympics back then made the event. This man was a God back then, scoring so many knockouts to take the Gold in 3 consecutive Olympics. Later, I felt he was very overrated. He towered over his opponents and enjoy a sizable physical advantage. He's lucky he didn't run into a fighter like Lennox Lewis or George Foreman. I'm glad he didn't turn pro too. His style was very mechanical to me, similar to that of the Klit Bros, where he was always jabbing and waiting to drop that right hand on his overmatched opponent. Nevertheless, he represented his country well. May he rest in peace.

Teofilo Stevenson dies at age 60, Cuban boxer won Olympic heavyweight gold medals in 1972, 1976 and 1980

Stevenson was impressive no doubt. But without having to fight any real pros it was hard to think of him as any thing special. He might have been as good as Ali but we never found out.. Castro must have took care of Stevenson's family well because he was never anything but loyal to Cuba...

Remember he was damn near 27 fighting 17 and 18 years in the 1976 Olympics.. He was a pro fighting amateurs... what fun is that..
