What is the overall air quality like in Bozeman?

I realize it can vary year to year, but how common is it for the air to get smokey from forest fires? Are there any other causes of poor air quality?

Thanks

It's been worse the last 5 or 6 years with the smoke in the late summers.

Tie that in with about 5000 new vehicles on the road every year as the area grows and I don't see the air quality getting better.

The valley is vast and expansive, so we don't get the sorts of inversions Missoula and the Flathead get, though. But yes, fires are a pain.

Take a look at air quality ratings from the American Lung Assoc. American Lung Association:*Air Pollution Facts & Air Quality Info - 2007 SOTA State Ozone - ALA State of the Air 2007 (http://lungaction.org/reports/SOTA07_stateozone.html?geo_area_id=30 - broken link)

Fire sucks. But, if the 'city smog' gets to you, drive out of town for like... 5 minutes. Park the car, unroll the windows and breathe.

Yeah, realistically, only fires get to us.

The ALA and EPA websites are good sources that I have consulted before, but I don't see Gallatin county in the link you provided...what should I be looking for?

I noticed that as well and thought it was strange. What I'd do is look at the areas listed around Gallatin and figure that Gallatin couldn't be too much different.
