Hi everybody,

Pretty new to posting here but a regular observer. I'm traveling to Bozeman from Chicago end of November (on Thanksgiving) and was curious about what the locals would recommend for entertainment. Of course, some activities may be contingent on the weather, so is snow pretty likely for this time of year?

I'm curious about the hot springs, hiking (beginner to intermediate level), snow activities (no snowboarding/skiing, I'm not great at those), and the local food and beverage scene. Dog sledding seemed like a fairly unique thing to do as well.

I will have a rental car and I'm open to driving a couple of hours to reach a must-see or must-do destination or activity.

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

Plenty of time for predictions to change several times but right now this long-range forecast is for wet on Nov24-25 but otherwise not bad. https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/bo...2019&view=list

Check into Chico Hot Springs. The hot springs and maybe spa related activities if interested.

Look into sledding hills.

Dog sledding might be fun
https://www.google.com/search?q=boze...n+dog+sledding

Or sleigh ride.

Shopping / eating / drinking along the main drag would be easy filler. And along Livingston's too.

Might be some near town hikes with low or no snow (like near Yellowstone river around Livingston or along the Gallatin) but might want to check with an outdoor store on conditions and maybe rent snowshoes if apprpriate. Have right warm / dry inside clothing, etc. If there is a lot of snow, might want to just seek out high points near roads for views into the high country.

If the weather is good maybe scenic drive to Gardiner or Ennis / Virginia City or Red Lodge or up toward White Sulphur Springs to get some feel for the land. Or maybe Butte for the architecture and / or bars & bar crowd / some eastern european food.

If you want a workout especially in bad weather, maybe check for indoor rock climbing gyms.

This might be fun if you are there by then and want to dance & meet people https://logjampresents.com/event/funksgiving-33256/ Or maybe open mic nights / karoke https://www.bozemanevents.net/view/n...te/10-25-2019/

The Museum of the Rockies is a worthwhile stop.
The weather could miserable with poor driving conditions or a lovely sunny winter weekend, so watch forecasts and have alternate plans.
Big Sky or West Yellowstone may have adequate snow for snow activities that early in the season.
Also, I would double check all destinations to be certain they are open over Thanksgiving & if there are open-- to make necessary reservations.

@NW Crow: If only I was coming to town sooner, it looks like Eve 6 is playing. That could have been a lot of fun. I've been looking into the Bozeman Hot Springs but that looks very "resort-ed" up. Which nearby springs have a more natural vibe? Chico?

@Historyfan, definitely good tips on planning ahead for the holiday weekend. Does Bozeman typically go into hibernation after Thanksgiving or is it alive and well? I'm pretty easily satisfied when it comes to travel, as I can find a nice, cozy pub to pony up to the bar at and order some good food.

Speaking of, what are the best spots in town? Basically all of my meals will be experienced out on the town, so I'd really appreciate learning more about the local go-tos.
