I live in Bozeman. I can tell you guys that we don't know what will happen to this area in 12 years. Our airport is currently being renovated to be the largest airport between Seattle and Minneapolis. Bozeman is the fastest growing area in the state. I don't necessarily want the Olympics to come here, but just because our infrastructure can't handle it now doesn't mean it can't in twelve years. Has anyone on this message board lived in Bozeman for the past twelve years?? I have. I've lived here my whole life. In the 20 years or so that I've been conscious about the change, Bozeman has more than quadrupled in size. And if we DO host the Olympics, the Meadow up at Big Sky would make a great ready made yuppy village for everyone.

Oh, like that's just what Montana needs more of

What you say is true, but... even were Bozeman ten times the city it is today, look what the Olympics have done to the finances of much larger cities that already had large chunks of the necessaries... not to mention what it did to an entire country (Greece has never really recovered from its most recent Olympic foray).

No city has ever done better than losing its shirt on hosting the Olympics, save one case of breaking even (which IIRC was Los Angeles). So it doesn't really matter how large Bozeman is, or how great its infrastructure is. The Olympics has a long track record of financial destruction, and it's folly to think Bozeman could escape this, especially when the Olympics' costs in 2022 are likely to be (at its present rate of growth) larger than the annual budget for the entire STATE.
