Hi,

Planning to stay in Melbourne this weekend for the surf competition and we want to stay near a lively fun area. I've heard Melbourne has a fun downtown with bars, restaurants, shops, etc. Can someone give me some cross streets for the downtown? I'd like to stay near there. We've been to Intracoastal Brewing. Is it near there? Is that the downtown?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Intracoastal Brewing is in downtown Eau Gallie. That area has some cute artsy shops, but is less busy than downtown Melbourne.
The basic boundaries of downtown Melbourne are 192 (Strawbridge Ave) to the north to Melbourne Ave to the South and Depot ave to the east and oak street to the west. It's not a super huge area, so there are probably rentals outside of that area that are an easy walking distance to the fun. Here's a downtown Melbourne website that might be helpful https://www.downtownmelbourne.com/. I hope you have a blast while you visit & if you are in the surf competition I hope you catch some killer waves!

I would still stay beachside in one of the hotels and just go to Downtown Melbourne.
It is just over the Melbourne Causeway on 192. Enjoy the contest

Check out Hellnblazes and some of the other bars all in a couple blocks.
