I bet that it is limited to certain areas and even then, it depends on the lifestyle of the people involved. Actually, for an urban school district, Niagara Falls is not as bad in comparison to most others in this country. Test Scores for Niagara Falls City School District | GreatSchools

Also, it still has some nice/stable neighborhoods like DeVeaux, LaSalle, Cayuga Island and Echota. So, the potential to improve is still there.

Most definitely, I aint on here trying to say that the entire town is horrible because it's not. But lets be realistic, no city in America is completely horrible.

I grew up downtown, so my life and viewpoints of Niagara Falls are a lot different than someone elses who grew up in those neighborhoods you mentioned. Things like crime were usually topics that were pretty mainstream to me. When I first got into high school my best friend at the time got sentenced to prison for 3 years, and the only reason he didnt do the original 10 they wanted to give him was because he was so young. So right off the jump I was exposed to the life of crime that some lead out here. And have seen it ever since. So to say "crime aint bad" or that "it never really was" isnt true. Its just that it depends on where you are talking about.

And you don't have to be involved in crime to be a victim of crime, like I said my house got broken into and the piece of **** stole my mentally handicapped little brothers $400 class ring. And if I ever find out who did it Imma chop his hand off with a machete, Rwanda style.

And people have gotten killed out here for $5 jewelry, my boy from high school just got locked up murder, just got sentenced to 40 years. That homicide that happened out at hometown last year. The one where he ran bleeding to death and died in some random persons back yard. Plus the cabbies who have been shot, and the one who was killed. I used to be on that "its a safe area" stuff too but reality had to set in after a while. Mainly when that Josh Hayes kid got his head blown off on Weston. All he did was talk a little trash and he got his head blown off in broad daylight in the middle of the street.

Crime is an issue, trust me. lol

Don't use the schools as an example because I can personally account for MAD families that left NF to move to Wheatfield just off the schools alone.

Niagara Falls high school is represented by the entire city, so thats a biased stat, because you aren't solely looking at the urban section, you are looking at every single square inch of the city, and even then, there are people going to the high school that arent even from the falls. Trust me I know.

Kids going to public schools outside of their district happens everywhere to some degree. You have to look at the whole city when it comes to schools. I'm sure people leave due to schools, but trust me when I sat that for an urban HS, there are many that are worse in terms of graduation rates. Some send their kids to Niagara Catholic too. Niagara Falls isn't much different from Utica, Schenectady, Binghamton or Troy in many aspects.

^^^Wow. Would not have thought of Niagara Falls to be that way in a million years. As commented, every city has its good and bad. Though, I admit some of those images and videos look really bad.

Seems like you're a Niagara Falls veteran. My family is looking to go this year. Can you please advise which hotel is by far the nicest in NF on the Canada side? There are so much choices, but Embassy Suites, the Sheraton and the Marriott keep coming up as the best choices.

They all have their good and bad spots, as well as each are about the same size. I can show a similar picture montage of any city in this country like that. Even a city like Salt Lake City Utah, has gangs and rough looking areas. So, that's just how many , many American cities get down, in some parts. I know there are rough neighborhoods there, but there some nice ones too.

Word word, I heard Utica and Binghamton was mad Blooded and Cripped out in them back alleys...
