I'm not sure that Amherst has the largest Asian population. The Vietnamese, Burmese, Ka-ren have a large presence in Buffalo. Not that any of that really matters. People are friendly but you will have difficulty depending on your age group "breaking in" to circles where people have known each other for years. You either start "new" circles or you have to have some patience as people re-live memories.

I make new friends quite easily as I am pretty outgoing for an Asian. All I ask for is a fair chance to participate in all aspects of life. Even though I was born and raised Asian, as I said I lived in Buffalo for some years and have totally embraced the American culture. My favorite sports are hockey, and American football and I can talk about it all day. I eat more pizza than rice, and my favorite car is an American muscle car. I still think America is the greatest country in the world.

Buywheels,

You should not have any issues. If you want a "new immigrant" feel, the West Side of Buffalo is booming. If you want a "we immigrated and are successful", Amherst is more what I think you are looking for.

Since you went to SUNYAB, you know Amherst. You know its diversity. Maybe you have not seen the large influx of new asian residents in the city. Maybe you will like that more. The point here is that you want to relocate and be comfortable and near family in Canada. You know the weather and prices... I don't think you'd be out of place in any town, you just need to find where you like it.

Consider taking a day and investigating locations. Do you have a church? Call its local denomination and ask where they have people of your descent. Or call the International Institute on Delaware. They will be able to tell you. Then narrow the area and look at the places you find.
