When we lived here in the 60 - 70's, there were few Chinese and Japanese restaurants. We frequented one of each on Bailey Avenue (they are now gone). The Japanese restaurant was one of the early steak grilling places.

Now, there are lots of Japanese restaurants which we are trying. One difference, obviously, from TX - no taquerias on almost every street. Some of the Mom and Pop places were great, never go to the chains.

When some GOP dude was complaining about immigration bringing taco trucks everywhere, we laughed our heads off, even meetings of 'hard core' conservatives had morning tacos.

Just some thoughts, as we re-acclimate.

Where did the Turgeon (sp?) brothers go? They were quite the thing, back then. Anybody remember the Shetland House dive?
