This is a conversation of topic that comes up every now and again in the City of Buffalo, putting a helipad on top of Mercy Hospital for Mercy Flight.

Mercy Hospital is next closest to the Southtowns and it's not uncommon to see ambulances coming in from North Java, East Aurora, Springbrook, Springville, Strykersville, North Collins, Concord....

Mercy Flight travels to ECMC, which is on the other side of the city.

So the polling question is, woud you still live in a neighborhood if Mercy Flight had a helipad at Mercy Hospital?

I ask, if you're voting in the poll and you live outside of the neighborhood/City of Buffalo, be honest and check the first option, but feel free to leave your opinions in comment.

Hey, if I or a member of my family ever needed Mercy Flight, I'd want it to be nearby. Why the heck would anyone object to it being in their neighborhood?

Some people have objected (even just the thought in conversation)

It's not uncommon to hear the noise of a siren about 10 times a day, when company is visiting, they run to the outside to see "OMG... what's going on" forgetting the hospital is nearby.

Thumbs up what, who and why?

Who controls and pays for it? What is the fee for uninsured? What is the purpose of the Mercy Flight? Why only ECMC?

You didn't answer, "what is the cost for uninsured?"

Uhm, I'm in the village of hamburg and Mercy Flight does come here.. when they need to get somebody one place they land is a block away from my house in the circle track between pleasant ave and maple st, across from the elementary school. Its not that often that they come so maybe its more common in other neighborhoods in the city.... I dunno.

But either way , people really object to Mercy Flight landing in their neighborhood?! That's seriously the most embarrassingly ****ed up NIMBYism I think I've ever heard of. They should be ashamed of themselves.

All I know is if you ever need Mercy flight called, its usually very serious and if you do survive - mercy flight is pretty much the only reason, because you wouldnt survive the trip if you were being driven to the hospital.

I meant to say I wouldn't move away. For the amount of times it is used, I like the idea of it being close in case it is me or my neighbors.
