Thought this would be interesting...a little dialect. People outside the area wonder what a "pop machine" is.

I voted for "pop" but often use the word soda.

I voted soda, but then again, I'm not from here.

Would you believe that in certain parts of South Texas, and the world, the word is "coke"?

pop - only here in upstate - everywhere else its soda, but the polling will probably show pop b/c of the demographics

Yep, even in places like Alabama, they say coke.

LOL, great thread, and one that many can relate to here. I voted for pop, and only pop. Who the heck calls pop soda or cola or coke? Not here in upstate, except for the ones that moved here. My brother in law from New Jersey moved here and never heard the word "pop" being used as a fizzed drink term. He was also astonished that what some might call around here "suckers" he has always referred to as "lollipops." Interesting...

And then you have the whole chicken wings called buffalo wings. Did they name them off of the city? Does everyone know they are made of chicken?

LOL, yes many people around the world think the "Buffalo Wing" came based off the animal buffalo, when really its from Buffalo, New York from the Anchor Bar! Come on guys, invented and made best in Buffalo!
