Kissling's Allentown Lofts project is done- 6 of the 10 units are leased and tenants start moving in next week. If you're in Buffalo, they're having an open house the next three Saturday/Sundays from 10-2. I've seen most of the downtown housing projects and this one has some of the biggest units and best finishes. First class job (and rents to prove it).

Former main entrance is now part of one of the two-level units.

Those look really nice and I hope that there will be people willing to live in them.

Nice view of downtown Buffalo, I like the exposed brick. Its good to see that Buffalo is making a modest, but bold comback. I received my undergraduate and graduate degree (School of Architecture) at SUNY Buffalo. Syracuse is my hometown, but Buffalo is my second "home". I think the UB 2020 Comprehensive Plan and its proposed (evolving) downtown campus will fill many converted buildings like the one posted.

Overview - UB 2020

Could I go for a Teds Hot Dog; Anderson Ice Cream; or a Mighty Taco right about now. A "snowbird" from Buffalo told me that there are nine Anderson locations.

from the website...

"Rent for a one-bedroom unit is $1800/month. A duplex unit is available for $2000. The two-bedroom, 2 ½ bathroom units are priced at $2500 and $2750. "

In other words, VERY high for Buffalo. But I guess it's working for them, if a majority of the units have already been rented.

Default Best time to Apt. Hunt?

OMG: out of my price range. I wonder what the square footage is. I'm hoping to find something that cute when I move but in the $750 for 600st or more.

HEY! any one know when the best time to apartment hunt is? I'll be transfering the the spring to UB and need to take a trip up there to Apt. Hunt.

The only break in school I have to do this is at the end of summer this year (which I think would be way to soon for a move in Jan. of 2011) or during labor day week (Sept 6-10) or cristmas time (between Dec 11-Feb 1st). Any advice?

As long as you can do without granite countertops, you can find a great apartment for $750 in Buffalo. In my experience, the best time to apartment hunt is a month or so before you want to move in. But generally, there are probably more places to choose from in the summer (because more people are moving, then).
