I am a 70 year old widower, in very good health, still working full time, and own a home in southern Vermont. I'm looking for a community with lots to do, where biking, walking, and public transportation get you to most everything. From my visits to Burlington, VT, this seems to be the ideal place for me. I can deal with the cold winters. I'd appreciate any advise on where to live (and not to live), given that I am of moderate financial means. Also, I'd appreciate any suggestions about a reasonably priced motel or B&B where I can stay to do more scouting around. And, I welcome any other thoughts you might have as I begin another adventure. Tough to say as Burlington now is a mix of good and bad neighborhoods. Look into zones closer to South Burlington. Housing (owning and renting) is expensive in Burlington. For a good motel or B&B, look into AirBnB to get good deals. Good luck!

South Burlington is a nice community for retirees. For one thing there are a lot there and they have active senior groups. Shelburne is great too but pricy.

Check out Fort Ethan Allen. Quiet, and costs are low due to an affordable housing initiative. It also has nearby shopping.
