Next week I will be having a first date with a girl. The orginal plan was to meet at Applebee's and then go over to Barnes and Noble. This does sound nice but I was wondering if anyone has any better ideas for the Burlington area esp in the cold weather. This date is kinda important so I want it to be fun and I don't know the Burlington area that well.
Thanks

Default I'd take her to Church Street

Church Street has some great restaurants and every type of food you could want from French to Asia to sushi. My favorite Church Street restaurant in Leunigs, a little French bistro with amazing food and an atmosphere that always brings me back to my honeymoon in Paris. It's very pricey so my dh and I usually just go there once a year for our anniversary, but they do have a fixed-priced menu if you arrive before a certain time.

Another great thing about Church Street is that you can stroll and talk after or before your meal. If things are going well you can stretch out your date by stopping somewhere for a drink or a cup of coffee and there are a lot of nice places to window shop.

I don't have anything against Applebees --- I've had many fun girls' night outs there --- but I wouldn't go there for a special date. Wherever you end up, have fun and good luck!

I agree with Lisa..you can do much better than Applebees (blech IMO). Take her downtown. Lots of great restaurants. After dinner take a stroll along Church Street and do some window shopping. Pop in one of the coffee houses for coffee or hot chocolate and nice conversation.
Have fun and good luck!!

Any places around that serve and have fireplaces? The lodges in Stowe had this figured out years ago. An open fire is as visually entrancing as tv, but allows for conversation and coziness.

We love Sweetwaters...dowtown Burlington. Definitely second DT...as opposed to Applebees. Borders is downtown, too, for a cup of coffee or tea for after the date. Have fun wherever you choose to go!

Rent a Corvette and drive down to NYC for coffee and a street vendor hot dog.

If this impresses her, she's not for you!

More free advice later. Hang on.

Montreal. And learn a little french first. She'll be on you like Gomez Addams.

Which is cool as long as she doesn't look like Gomez Addams.

Thanks. I thought about Church street and it would be better for a first date. The cold weather won't be a turn off?

Depends on your date. I love cold weather and hate chain restaurants. Many people are vice versa or some other combo. Why generalize?
