Years ago, one of my contractor buddy was complaining about AL. He said they kept trying to persuade him to spend $$ for better placement (my recollection is vague). It didn't mean he got recommended, but somehow was listed higher on the page or something. He smelled a rat then.
I don't know anything about the veracity of those claims. I did sign up for AL when I had my driveway paved and had a great experience. What was not so great was how AL has bombed my inbox ever since, two-three times a day. So I finally unsubscribed.
When will idiots learn how to mount an effective e-mail program?

lol. That is exactly what I do for a living. Unfortunately the technology has taken a while to get into full swing. Not too many solutions exist for running effective campaigns. Those that do exist are very costly for small businesses. Unfortunately the whole email world is still stuck in 1999. I am trying to change that though!
Angie's List is a joke. About as much as a joke as BBB. I can't believe consumers actually falls for these two.
Actually can't believe contractors and consumers both PAY to be part of Angie's list!
