Knowing where you are located would help, but I have a duck farm that does very well, and duck is becoming more mainstream.

How about a store that has discounted high quality children's clothes ? Or even a child's used clothing reseller ? I bet fancy children's clothes at a low price are hard to find in a rural community

Well I was thinking of the kind of high quality clothes you find at the fancier department stores or the well known high quality children's stores, at a discount. And since most children grow out of their clothes before they wear out maybe have a place to resell high quality used children's clothes at a lower price ? Where I live in Orlando outlet malls offering quality clothes at a discount are very popular. I bet places like that are hard to find in a rural area.

If you can afford to purchase at 5-10 acres of land, opening a deer farm can be a lucrative business. Deer cost surprisingly little to take care of and their meat or their sperm (for breeding purposes) can fetch quite a bit. Also selling deer can be lucrative.

I live in a rural area and I don't know anyone who gets their car detailed. Cars here are lucky to go through the coin car wash to get the road salt off after snow season.

If by "rural" you mean out where the rich folks displace the farmers to have a summer "cottage" then maybe it would work.

However, part of starting a business is to do all the research to see if the area will support that business. So do your research and see what it says.

The thing is that you can have an internet based business anywhere that you can receive high speed internet, so you aren't all that limited in what you can do out in the country.

Well…I would check your state laws concerning deer-raising and give it some consideration.
